"Under A Spell" (Kidnap Holland) [oiça aqui] Comentários: Broken Beat, Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop; Streamer is a studio project of producer Gary Shepherd. Also well-known as his DJ alter ego Alec Smart, in other guises he's made his mark on the mash-up scene and in the world of cutting-edge theatre performance. He's one of the few artists who manages to combine underground credibility with up-to-the-minute style. And don't forget the otherwise so much missed irony factor. "It's got to be fun." he explains. "Under A Spell" is a follow up of the Streamer's debut album Blissed, which became a classic. The sound of Streamer is all about a broad and tasty mix of genres, so there's a wealth of new sounds to explore and enjoy, like the definitive marriage of country and salsa on the "Cowboys And Lesbians", or how about afro jungle flavour funked up with New Orleans horns as featured on the first 12" pulled from the album, "Call Of The Wild"? On the second single, "Hunting Songs", Siberian throat singing meets acidic ragga tech, and an Ennio Morricone-like soundtrack style takes on an 80s electromeister production on the track "Under A Spell". Then there's the remixed rock ballad "Drunk Song" and the tango dub of "Advanced Tango Lesson". Elsewhere on "Under A Spell" you'll encounter quirky jazz, Bavarian oboes, orchestral disco, big beats - the list goes on. It all goes into the mix and comes out sounding like no-one else but Streamer. In short, it's an album you've got to hear; one you've got to hear to believe. Imaginative just doesn't do it justice.
