Circlesquare - 7 Minutes / Fight Sounds Pt 1

Circlesquare has always adopted a more considered approach than the shiny Playgroup-style electro-pop which has become synonymous with the imprint. His first new material since 'Pre-Earthquake Anthem' LP, 'Fight Sounds EP' sees Jeremy Shaw further bucking the trend with an EP that unites warring factions - some tracing-paper electronica one minute, ear shattering digitalis the next, whilst in the middle you get some singer-songwriter tenderness for your £££. Square-root of rather good... in boomkat

TOH, Tim - Join The Resistance Part 1

TOH, Tim - Join The Resistance Part 1 (Philpot Germany) Comentários: First 500 limited edition on red transparent vinyl! We are very proud to present the debut of 21 year old Tim Toh, a fresh producer with such a huge talent and character in his tracks, we guess, we didn´t hear for the last decade in House Music! That´s a big goal to claim, but it´s also the reason, we signed him for a three-part series called “Join the Resistance” and this is Part 1. The a-side is like an intro to the whole series, starting with some charming detroitish-sequences and a smooth piano, while the beat shapes itself naturally out of the track with raw percussions and a thumpin kick…from then on it twists and turns into sweet eternity…timeless! The b-side is beatdown rhythmic wizzadry and a tool par excellance, polyrhythmic percussions and a beat that will shake every floor you dare to play it! not more nor less…work it! in word&sound [Para Ouvir/Samples1] [2]

$tinkworx - Coelacanth

$tinkworx - Coelacanth (Strange Life) Comentários: One of the finest deepest tearjearking jams ever to come from the brains of the legendary american producer stinkworx! Coelacanth is a piece-de-resistance of soulfull technoblues where moody synth riffs play over an irresistable funk baseline. On the other side we find the track Amira another huge deep detroit techno jam where basic channel-esque chords evaporate over a sauce of delicate electronics. Two beautifull tracks with which Stinkworx continues the great american techno legacy. To finish everything off there is a Syncom Data remix of the track Coelacanth where the baseline is squeezed out to the max! in clone.

B12 - Last Days Of Silence

B12 - Last Days Of Silence (B12) Comentários: "Some 12 years since the classic "Time Tourist" album (Warp), the rightful follow-up to B12's critically acclaimed and landmark first LP Electro Soma (also on Warp) the recently re-launched B12 are back as both label and recording duo. Mike Golding and Steve Rutter release their first CD album consisting of new material, tracks only ever heard at their live gigs and music only previously available on limited edition vinyl. From the warm and moody 'Ashamed of Me' to the far eastern tinged strings on 'Hall of Mirrors', echoic deep bass on the break infected 'Magnetic Fields' and dancefloor groove of current single '32 Lineup' Steve Rutter and Mike Golding combine the classic B12 sounds into a new vision of the future. Also includes a bonus disc of unreleased live recordings - making for an 18 track package, quite the bargain." in boomkat [Para Ouvir/Samples]

808 STATE - Quadrastate (reissue)

808 STATE - Quadrastate (Rephlex) Comentários: My word it's so good to hear this album again. Seems like a lifetime ago, but once upon a time 808 State had a top 10 hit with "Pacific State", a track that would spawn a million imitators and more or less define the whole Acid House scene that was slowly inventing itself back in 88/89. Anyway, "Pacific State" opens this classic album and instantly takes you back to those heady days just after the second Summer of Love. The band's rare debut single, "Let Yourself Go / Deepville is included here, together with some other previously-unreleased alternate versions and outtakes. Its the first time ever that the tracks have been released on CD and the entire project has been lovingly remastered, to the customary Rephlex high standards. An absolute classic. in boomkat [Para Ouvir/Samples]

MARTYN - All I Have Is Memories

MARTYN - All I Have Is Memories - Back Cover (Apple Pips UK) Comentários: Appleblim's freshly minted Apple Pip imprint is surely the most exciting thing to happen to Dubstep in a while, and this opening salvo from the mighty Martyn taps into that dubstep/breakbeat/techno axis that's pushing all the right buttons for us at the moment. A-Side "All I Have Is Memories" is a killer sunshine steppa, employing classic staggered progressions and shimmering keys with a rubbed-out low-end that provides a hefty counterbalance . The real treat is tucked away on the flip, however, "Suburbia" deploying fuzzed out dub chords and 2562-style squashed breaks that employ heaving sounds within a hugely spacious arrangement. The palette and stylistic shifts are borrowed from Jungle, Techno, Garage - pioneering new movements in the continuum with an attention to detail that beggars belief. As far as we're concerned - it just doesn't get any better. Track of the year anyone? Essential Purchase. in boomkat [Para Ouvir/Samples1] [2]

KEEN K aka STARCLUSTER/DIVIDER - Structures EP

KEEN K aka STARCLUSTER/DIVIDER - Structures EP (Das Drehmoment Germany) Comentários: Divider is the electro disco project from Berlin based musician and producer keen K. He has already released several times on das drehmoment records - for example his appearance on "VA. das drehmoment - dreht weiter!" under his sideproject keen K & Dorian E. But the most important fact is that Divider ‘Trashpop for Lovers’ has been the very first release on das drehmoment! And do you remember his club hit ‘Tanz ins Licht’ on Beautycase Records? You should listen clearly, you might recognise anybody else singing then Tg (das drehmoment) himself! http://www.keenk.de/ [Para Ouvir/Samples]

QUANTEC - Unusual Signals

QUANTEC - Unusual Signals (Echocord US) Comentários: Following a succession of very well recieved 12" cuts for the likes of Styrax Leaves, Meanwhile and Millions of Moments, Sven Schienhammer returns to the home of some of his best work with a studied album of dub techno variants for Echocord. Sven's agenda is made clear with the title of the first track 'Amanita Muscaria', a familiar term to the trippier readers out there (Fly Agaric mushies to the more straight laced), signifying a love of or respect for psychedelic substances and sounds which are echoed in the esoteric dub depths of the opening cut. From here we plummet into the dense spaces of 'Deliberate', populated with wide open chord stabs and intangible analog ephemera that will sound lush on any system. From here on in the tracks seem to merge into a hazily tripped blur of feathered synth washes, barely audible sub undulations and glimpses of melody carried along by massively compressed kicks, lush stuff to completely give yourself up to. The track names become sign posts for the territory you're about to enter, with classic reverberating and psychedelic effects such as 'Iboga' and 'Yage' referencing deeply affecting states of mind induced through the course of the album. Of course, if it were that effective we probably wouldn't be able to sell you this album for legal reasons (or maybe we'd have to meet you after work by the goods entrance) but this is still some deadly and affected gear which we urge you to give a chance sometime soon, especially if you're a follower of the Deepchord/Basic Channel school of dub reduction. LIQUID LIQUID - Slip In & Out Of Phenomenon

LIQUID LIQUID - Slip In & Out Of Phenomenon (Domino) Comentários: Liquid Liquid, the no-wave band so good they named them twice, get their first three, groundbreaking EPs re-released as part of this great retrospective on Domino, which also compiles a number of previously unreleased and live recordings there are ten bonus cuts in total). The influence of the New York post-punk band can be heard throughout today's more rhythmically-oriented rock bands, from the DFA roster to !!! and The Rapture, but beyond that, as if the impact (however furtive) this band had on popular culture wasn't clear enough, a quick listen through 'Cavern' reveals the foundations of Grandmaster Flash's 'White Lines' which sampled and generally plundered the song for all its worth. Liquid Liquid were also one of the first bands to incorporate the percussion-heavy sounds of Afrobeat and more experimental drum manoeuvring: the treatments and production techniques bhind 'Lub Dupe' sound like a particularly odd piece of early radiophonic tape music, while a song like 'Bellhead' is equal parts gamelan orchestra and Rio carnival. Liquid Liquid could be the very archetype of a band who made a vast impact on the musical climate despite its minuscule discography, although the release of this hour-long collection means there's never been quite so much of it all in the same place before. Essential Purchase. in boomkat [Para Ouvir/Samples]

PLUXUS - Solid State

PLUXUS - Solid State (Kompakt Germany) Comentários: What do they put in the water up there in Sweden? Maybe their's is really pure and ours is just holding us back? Either way Pluxus are quite an interesting proposition who have recently been picked up by the fine-eared crew at Kompakt who have done us all a service by reissuing their fantastic 2006 album 'Solid State' originally released on the bands own Pluxemburg imprint, also home to Andreas Tilliander, Jeans Team and Fibes, Oh Fibes! Pluxus were originally conceived as a traditional guitar based group but have since delved into the more satisfying and exciting world of studio production, synthesizers, samples and computers, here resulting in the dazzling aural collage that is 'Solid State', a grainy clean mesh of melodic elements reminding us of everyone from Jose Gonzales to Paavoharju, mixed with the intricate rhythmic drive of say Mental Overdrive, Kim Hiorthoy or disco fiends Prins Thomas and Lindstrom. I couldn't really say it sounded quite like any one of the aforementioned artists, just a metamix of elements and ideas sucked from each but with an added flavour of their own. Highly original gear on Kompakt. in boomkat [Para Ouvir/Samples]

FENIN - Been Through

FENIN - Been Through (Shitkatapult Germany) Comentários: Longtime Shitkatapult and Meteosound crew member Lars Fenin delivers his second album since 2005's 'Grounded' with 'Been through'. Alongside Daniel Meteo, Anders Ilar and Pole amongst others Fenin has consistently foraged in the dub undergrowth to roughly define the Berlin dub-tech aesthetic, aiming for a calculated post-dub-techno approach that still clings to the basic tenets of dub minimalism but enhanced by updated production processes and open to incorporating new rhythms and styles from hiphop to electronica. With vocal assistance from reggae singer Gorbi, Fenin moves through dubbed mutations on discoid electro on 'breakin', tricky shufflers on 'colourfields', moody melodic steppers on 'Complain' feat Scorcha and ace dub tech on album highlight 'Red wine'. There's a wonderfully inviting early evening dub haze about the whole album which definitely makes it worth a look in, give it a crack like. in boomkat [Para Ouvir/Samples]

DEEP CHORD - Vantage Isle Sessions

DEEP CHORD - Vantage Isle Sessions (Echospace US) Comentários: Certainly the most anticipated release from Rod Modell's Deepchord project, this incredible package also marks the debut emission from the Echospace imprint, a label curated and steered by Modell in conjunction with Soultek's Steve Hitchell (Hitchell and Modell are also writing together under the Echospace moniker, with their debut efforts included here with 4 tracks and soon due for an appearance on the Modern Love imprint for a series of twelves). Apart from the fact that this album has taken several months to painstakingly put together, and the fact that it is limited to a measly 1000 copies worldwide), "Vantage Isle" also boasts a rare remix effort from Convextion, three new Deepchord mixes and five versions from Echospace - there are 13 tracks here beautifully mastered in Detroit by the legendary Ron Murphy and handpackaged by the Echospace crew with all the bespoke attention to detail you might expect from a package of this nature. The music, well, its just vintage Deepchord : kicking off with the mighty DC version of the title track, a lilting Maurizio-style killer that seems to hover over its own percussion with a million shards of space-echo and reverb breaking out of the mix - pure, hazy brilliance. The debut Echospace "Glacial" mix is up next and more or less sums up what this collaborative pairing is all about - a towering wall of fuzz and washes of delay drench the mix in a cascading variation of the primary dub sound-palette, an analogue leviathan that just blew my mind listening to on headphones - mighty, mighty stuff. On to the Convextion mix : and you get just about what you expect - the spacial hemorrhage of the original squashed into a pulsing BASS killer, sparse yet menacing, the chords taking on their own signature sound - deconstructing and re-building itself into something you could only really describe as epic. The Basic Channel continuum once again casts its influence over its legions of drooling followers, with this release finding one of their most sought-after, well-realised transmissions to date. SUBSONIC PARK - Inner City Codes

SUBSONIC PARK - Inner City Codes (Electrolux Germany) Comentários: by the subsonic park project, elektrolux walks on entirely new paths. "second skin", the first release from the forthcoming album "inner city codes" represents a synergy between the repetitive sound patterns of urban club culture, the deepness of dub and modern technology...thus, "second skin" starts with deep ambient dub house, syncopic chords and gently demanding percussive beats. a sensual form of dub allowing memories of the basic channel series but, nevertheless, is entirely anchored in 2008 as far as sound is concerned. the b-side, "after dark", completely does without bass drums but brings about an almost vibrating motoring activity anyway. finally who said that club music does not work without the omnipresent bass kick as well? SYNCOPIX - Icarus
