DEHNERT, Mike - Freiraum EP

DEHNERT, Mike - Freiraum EP (Fachwerk Germany) Comentários: "Four striped killer Detroit/Berlin flavoured techno tracks! Especially the a1 and b1 are two tracks that really stand out. Producing with his background in german techno and influenced by artists such as Underground Resistance (especially the b2) this is one of those records that will stay in the box for a looong time!" in word&sound [Para Ouvir/Samples]

(Mindless Boogie Release Party #2) @ Trintaeum, Porto

SOCIAL DISCO CLUB - Clap Pat Clap Slap (Mindless Boogie) Comentários: Another quirky edit 12'' from the Mindless Boogie camp... Social Disco Club (also responsible for Mindless number 014) deliver three ultra-slo-mo and quite frankly bizarre edits that'll still sound great on the dancefloor. in phonica [Para Ouvir/Samples]

A MADE UP SOUND aka 2562 - Shortcuts

A MADE UP SOUND aka 2562 - Shortcuts (A Made Up Sound) Comentários: A severely limited and exclusive glimpse into the mind of Dave Huismans aka 2562 aka A Made Up Sound, with his self released 'Shortcuts' album offering up 20 nuggets of intimate beat experimentalism and bluest late night vibes. The album was born as a sort of concept set back in 2004 when Huismans tried to complete a track each evening after work during a rainy month in Dutch suburbia. The results are 20 tracks ranging from just under a minute to over four minutes in length, cohesively steering between a range of melancholy blue moods held together with shattered dubstep, strafing electro synthlines and a tempered minimal techno ambience much like his later works, but in an altogether rawer and stream-of-consciousness style. The brevity of some tracks mostly leaves you wanting to hear an extended version, but once you've settled into the constantly shifting groove the set gels together as a kind of waking dream like state, as a blink-and-you miss it pace will require many repeated listens. Arching from Flylo style wonk through to the brittle breaks of Seiji and the dark undercurrents of T++ , Huismans' unique style coalesces around certain elements, namely the sumptuous blue atmospheres and twitchy beat tendancies that have made his more recent productions so very highly sought after. This is an unexpected, thoroughly enjoyable and extremely limited edition - grab one while you can! in boomkat [Para Ouvir/Samples]

ON THE HOUR - Series 1

ON THE HOUR - Series 1 (The Entire 2nd Series feat Chris Morris, Armando Iannucci & Steve Coogan) (Warp) Comentários: Peerlessly brilliant radio comedy from Chris Morris and a writing/performing team that includes Steve Coogan (in his first appearances as Alan Partridge), Armando Iannucci, Stewart Lee, Richard Herring and a whole roster of Britain's leading comedy talent. From the opening line of the very first show: "It's 11.20, this is On The Hour" these discs never cease to entertain, loaded with incisive satire and jibes at the mechanisms of radio news and entertainment broadcasting itself. The shows are held together with clever sound editing techniques, brilliant prank phone calls (which probably don't seem like too good an idea nowadays) and amazing musical spoofs. This first set comes with the original pilot episode, recorded in February 1991. "Chris Morris' acclaimed BBC Radio comedy, which spawned 'The Day Today' and legendary characters like Steve Coogan's Alan Partridge, will be released for the first time on 24th November via Warp on 2 Deluxe CD packages, featuring all episodes and previously unheard content!" in boomkat [Para Ouvir/Samples]

ON THE HOUR - Series 2 (The Entire 2nd Series feat Chris Morris, Armando Iannucci & Steve Coogan) (Warp) Comentários: The second series of the peerlessly brilliant radio comedy from Chris Morris and a writing/performing team that includes Steve Coogan (in his first appearances as Alan Partridge), Armando Iannucci, Stewart Lee, Richard Herring and a whole roster of Britain's leading comedy talent. This stuff just doesn't get old, loaded with incisive satire and jibes at the mechanisms of radio news and entertainment broadcasting itself. WINDSURF - Coastlines

WINDSURF - Coastlines ( Internasjonal Norway) Comentários: Windsurf, AKA Sorcerer's Daniel Judd and Hatchback's Sam Grawe, will sail off into uncharted territory when they release their debut full-length together in October. As you might expect from their solo projects, the sound of Windsurf is that of Balearic gone to California: It's music that takes in elements of Boards of Canada, Prins Thomas and a whole lot of yacht rock. Coastlines is the name of the record and it aptly sums up the duo's aesthetic. These are tunes perfect for a drive down the coast, alongside the water with a window cracked open and the wind smacking in your face. Or something like that. Prins Thomas, at the very least, has fallen in love with the boys and is releasing the record on his Internasjonal imprint, which thus far has put out other light disco tunes from the likes of Nick Chacona and Mark E. The release comes in the wake of recent debut full-length albums from both Judd (Tirk) and Grawe (Lo Recordings), which mine a similar vibe. in ra [Para Ouvir/Samples]

EOC - Information Warfare

EOC - Information Warfare (Ai Records) Comentários: Ai’s 25th full length package is in fact two separate EPs delivered as a single vinyl release and sees the label return to its more experimental side with refreshingly original music from Japan’s EOC. Little is known about this mysterious producer and even the label has only been able to gather scant details about the mind behind the madness. Born in 1977 in Kyoto, Katsunori Sawa has held an interest in European music since childhood and while many producers often cite a wide variety of influences, it’s quicker to name the genres that EOC doesn’t feel have shaped him as his near endless list ranges from jazz and classical to electro and techno via noise, mambo and folk (to name but a few!). This love of such an eclectic and massively varied selection of music results in EOC’s productions ending up on a genre almost of their own and this is quite simply how the artist intends it to be, having let his music be created almost from the movement of his limbs manipulating his equipment rather than trying to reach any kind of pre-meditated goal. in soundrevolt [Para Ouvir/Samples]

LEROSA - Lovers EP

LEROSA - Lovers EP ( Comentários: Four very nice stripped & warm but raw US-influenced house tracks by the man from Dublin. Some absolutely stand out tracks from this talented guys who has some obvious influences such as Larry Heard. Theo P and KDJ, but he always manages to give the hot house grooves some kind of unique and own twist. Winner!!! in clone [Para Ouvir/Samples]

Actividades Paralelas Marte Nº3

ZOMBY - Where Were U In '92?

ZOMBY - Where Were U In '92? (Werk) Comentários: Technicolour rave freak Zomby comes with a bit of a shocker for Werk Disks, setting aside his killer dubstep style for a hot minute to produce a rough, ready and raw album of Piano rave and '91/'92 'ardkore variants. Firing up with a neat rave riff on 'F*ck mixing lets dance' and launching into a dope 138bpm breakbeat bomb you're immediately dumped into the middle of the dance, lazers scouring your retinas and everything. Then there's the staggered chords of 'Euphoria' setting up for a right little skankout, before the loony grinning cheekiness of 'We got the sound' and onto the horns and subs of 'Tears in the rain'. It all starts to get a little more happy hardcore with 'G.T.I', pitching up the pianos and deploying some mentasms for the Swindon crew. 'Pillz' krunks it up for the 2008 crew with a hyper collision of Ghetto-tech, B-more bounce and Dutty South Vibes, while 'Hench' sends it back for the darkside set over in the corner and 'B With me' does a naughty badman interpretation of Lenny de Ice's 'We are IE' and 'U are my fantasy' lets his imagination run wild with a mash of Baby D's classic with The streetfighter theme tune. This is probably of the most intelligent, enjoyable, well executed and heartfelt rave homages we've heard in tie and we can't recommend it any more highly. Do you like rave mate? in boomkat [Para Ouvir/Samples]

INSA

With over ten years as a well-known name on the London graffiti scene, INSA has now established himself as an artist in his own right. He has become recognised more recently for his 'Graffiti Fetish' work, which explores the idea of graffiti/art as an obsession and uses the traditional 'fetishised' image of the high heel as a recurring motif. This work has been seen in sell-out exhibitions in London, New York and LA- and on collaborative projects with selected design at the forefront of design such as Oki-Ni, Kid Robot and Kangol. In his latest collection of work 'Sneaker Fetish' INSA shows off his technical skills by using the relatively clumsy media of marker and spray-paints to question his relationship with objects of consumer fetishism. in art247 [+info]

The pair are legendary for their impeccable selection skills so you'd expect nowt less than pure vibes thorughout this mix, which they deliver with some seriously rare and overlooked gems from World Premiere 'Share The Night', The Disco Four 'Move To The Groove', Barbara Norris 'Heavy Hitter', Dreamhouse 'I Can Feel It' or Gary's Gang 'Makin' Music' segued with classic's like Heaven 17's 'Penthouse and Pavement', and moving towards housier climes on Plez's 'I Can't Stop (Acid Rainforest Mix)', before finishing on Devo's legendary 'Freedom Of Choice'.
