GUCCI VUMP - SHA! SHTIL! (L-VIS 1990 REMIX VIP)

Gucci Vump (aka Brodinski, Guillaume Brière) Sha! Shtil! was inspired by a traditional Klezmer song telling the story of a Rabbi dancing like a madman to get rid of the demon in him, the track is a smash hit capable of pleasing every dancefloor. People are just too happy to hear that lady sing in Yiddish, and the production is so crisp, it makes it the perfect tool for every dj to turn the techno party into RABBI-DOME VOLUME FIVE. in rcrdlbl (Released on digital by Sound Pellegrino, Institubes, and vinyl by Night Slugs) . Jimi Bazzouka - Edits Vol.2

Jimi Bazzouka - Edits Vol.2 (Tigersushi) Comentários: Four years after "Edits Vol.1" Tigersushi don Joakim Bouaziz adopts his cunning disguise of Jimi Bazzouka and is back with another set of re-edited favourites from his record box. Jimi originally made these edits for his own DJ sets, so they are fine-tuned for maximum dancefloor damage. But Jimi also wanted to be able to listen to these when he gets home. So no looped-up boring stuff here, instead we get top notch editing mastercraft in three different styles: A1 a post punk / punk-funk bomb (Killing Joke's "Change"), that was highly influential on LCD Soundsystem and "Losing My Edge" apparently. Next we have a European no wave rarity, by a very cult Swiss band, a weapon of choice to introduce some electro-dance tension in your set. Last but not least we have a track from a similar era, but totally different vibe, Jan Hammer's "Don't You Know", a classic piece of electronic Balearic disco-pop, made in California by a Dutch man. Ideal for either the cosy warm-up or the late late night. in piccadillyrecords

ANIKA - Anika

ANIKA - Anika (Stones Throw) Comentários: Self-titled debut, Anika, produced by Geoff Barrow of Portishead. This album came about when German artist Anika crossed paths with British band Beak while she was working as a political journalist between Berlin and Bristol. Spending just twelve days in the studio, Anika and Beak came out with a wholly unique album that clashes together punk ethics, dub-inspired production and the sort of songwriting approach you'd associate with the golden era of girl groups, during the sixties. Former single 'Yang Yang' seems to get better every time you hear it, and there's a massively weird DIY reggae cover of Bob Dylan's 'Masters Of War' that's far better than you could possibly expect. in boomkat

Podcast Special Ed. 47: Kouhei Matsunaga

Kouhei Matsunaga is an electronic musician from Osaka, Japan. A prolific artist, he is best-known for his collaborative projects, such as his sharply noisy techno duo NHK or his hip-hop production work with Sensational. His music runs the gamut from from noise to techno to abstract ambient to hip-hop. On August 12, Kouhei visited the studio and played an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink set that featured a broad range of material from current projects. via rarefrequency

Sensational Meets Koyxen - Sensational Meets Koyxen

Sensational Meets Koyxen - Sensational Meets Koyxen (Skam) Comentários: Skam spark off the second set of collaborative tracks between NHK's Kouhei Matsunaga aka Koyxen and marble-mouthed maverick MC Sensational following their debut for Wordsound in 2006. The pair have credentials like few others, counting collaborations with the Jungle Brothers, Mika Vainio, Merzbow and Madteo on their respective CVs, making for the most engaging marriage of styles on their self-titled sophomore effort. Created and recorded in Berlin, Osaka, Japan, and Brooklyn, NYC in 2009-2010, the beats are strictly top drawer business, Kouhei dropping his more f**ked-up or avant-garde inclinations to keep the flow dope and carefully controlled for Sensational's disjointed verbal acrobatics, the two gelling like concrete powder and water. This is surely one of the more interesting electronic HipHop albums we've heard in recent years. Recommended. in boomkat [Para Ouvir/Samples]

Seahawks - Ocean Trippin'

Seahawks - Ocean Trippin' (Captain's Log) Comentários: Seahawks is the deep sea dwelling psyche-rock alias of John Tye, aka the main man behind Lo recordings and sometimes known as Milky Globe. 'Ocean Tripping' compiles his three sold-out 12"s for Captains Log together with a couple of new bits to fire the imagination. There's shimmering hues of classic krautrock and certainly an analog with the contemporary likes of , Emeralds and Oneohtrix Point Never, but with more a cheesy British sensibility with really defines his sound. Special packaging with artwork from Pete Fowler and collectable sticker for this edition of 1000 copies, never to be released as a download. in boomkat [Para Ouvir/Samples]

HYPE WILLIAMS - Find Out What Happens When People Stop...

HYPE WILLIAMS - Find Out What Happens When People Stop Being Polite & Start Getting Reel (Destijl) Comentários: Hype Williams have cultivated a sublime aura of mystique around their heady sound with only a few 7"s and an almost-mythical LP for Carnivals. Ahead of a forthcoming HiT EP, their latest, 'Find Out What Happens When People Stop Being Polite And Start Gettin Reel' is one of the most highly anticipated albums of the year, a 24-minute portal into their hypnagogic vortex. If you've checked their warped videos on youtube or picked up the 'Do Roids And Kill E'rything' 7" you'll have a good idea what to expect, but much like their blunted and telepathically coital live show the cumulative opiate effect of consuming this album in one sitting should not be underestimated. Defining their sound is like trying to inhale the wisp of smoke on the sleeve - it's not going to happen. But we can say there's a brilliant Sade cover in there, and the recurring dream of 'Rescue Dawn 3' is by far one of our favourite tracks of the year. This is incredibly canny music with a blatant regard for all manner of liminal sounds, managing to make 96% of hypnagogic music seem soberly twee and contrived. ESSENTIAL, no less. Larry Marshall - Queer And Wonder

Larry Marshall - Queer And Wonder (Rare Youth) Comentários: Incredible debut LP of sorts from cult Rhode Island songwriter Larry Marshall, on a very special delivery from Geoff Mullen's Rare Youth label. His self-described "gothic folk... from the future" has only appeared on cassette for Unskilled Labor previously, but thanks to Mr Mullen's canny use of a small grant from the state of R.I, Larry's kaleidoscopic lo-fi sound can now infect lives outside a small circle of fans in Providence. We're almost at a loss how to describe this set... Larry essentially sounds like about ten different people over the course of the LP, switching between ropes-end coldwave, brilliantly discordant acoustic guitar recitals and proper outsider folk, well warranting comparisons to everyone from Syd Barrett to Gary Wilson. We were instantly struck with images of a younger Cosmic Dennis Greenridge on his opening bontempi-ballad 'All Is Broken', before the uniquely fractured timing of his live recordings at Manchester's Night & Day clearly justify the Barrett analog. Perhaps of most interest to us are those warped ****wave tracks like 'Tina's Fake Or Real' with its freakish double tracked vocals, the emaciated C&C-like 'International Punk Trick' or the Ariel Pink-styled 'Balloon Boy', but it's all making us too dizzy to think straight right now. This is just an immensely strange record and a brilliant installment for Rare Youth. Limited to 350 copies with ace sleeve and insert/lyric sheet. Well recommended! in boomkat

RAIME - Raime EP

RAIME - Raime EP (Blackest Ever Black) Comentários: Massively tipped debut from this new artist and label; Raime, and Blackest Ever Black Recordings. The UK based duo have forged one of the finest contributions to the darkened post-dubstep canon we've yet heard, distilling the essence of Shackleton's most maudlin moments with labyrinthine reverbs and salt-cured percussion over three tracks allegedly built from arcane industrial and post-punk samples. This 12" is already causing much consternation in the blogosphere; with Altered Zones, Simon Reynolds' Blissblog and Fact Magazine all singing its praises. 'Retread' initiates the session with an unnerving arrangement of suspended, ceremonial drums and an immensely affective choral drone, deployed with enough subtlety and atmosphere to really send shivers down the spine. 'This Foundry' follows, uncannily recalling the parallel dimensions of Balam Acab in its dragging Quasimodo flow and and vastly spacious sound design. 'We Must Hunt Under The Wreckage Of Many Systems' puts the final, frozen finish to the EP with a still, centred rhythm seemingly hung from flesh hooks in the ceiling while bowel shuddering subs disturb the flagstones below, shadowy reverbs skittering off cold, concrete surfaces. We've heard about a very special remix package forthcoming, but for now you'll have to flay yourself to this every evening. Outstanding. in boomkat [Para Ouvir/Samples][Dazed & Confused Interview]

COBE OBEAH

Born to Nigerian parents living in Inglewood, California, Booth newcomer Cobe Obeah was raised on a musical diet of Fela Kuti, Sunny Ade, Bob Marley, Marvin Gaye and Michael Jackson, in addition to traditional African tunes. From an artist with such a diverse set of influences, the only thing you can expect is the unexpected – and, predictably, mixtape title track Song of the Starz (making its world premiere here in the Booth!) finds Obeah and production group Argonauts serving up a sound best described as “unpredictable” (confused yet?). Backed by a headphone-worthy blend of ambient synths, piano, chopped vocals and reverb-drenched percussion, Obeah shows off his versatility, tackling the time-tested topics of cash, the grind and wanting to marry Janelle Monae in his rapped verses and delivering mellow sung vocals on the chorus. Not to mention, he drops the first reference to the “Mama se, mama sa…” hook off MJ’s Wanna Be Startin'. via djbooth

Gatekeeper - Giza

Gatekeeper - Giza (Merok) Comentários: Chicago's Gatekeeper follow last year's debut with a brilliant, and far more substantial, EP for Merok (home to releases from Kingdom, Salem, Teengirl Fantasy). If you've not checked their first 12" or awesome Fact mix, you really should sort it out. 'Giza' expands their style over six tracks, blending traces of Italo, Industrial EBM, and early Chicago house with VHS sci-fi soundtrack signatures and arcade game music. They've got a close contemporary ally for this sound in HIT's White Car and to a certain extent Skam's VHS Head, but Gatekeeper's tracks have an innate cinematic narrative that's quite hard to ignore and more like a cybercylic hallucination of the music they adore, than a rehash or cut-up. From the arcade biker themes of 'Chains', to the menacing Hellraiser vibes of 'Storm Column' , the leather-bound thrust of 'Giza' and the digital hallucinations of 'Mirage' this is a feast for any industrial dancefloor aesthetes. Highly recommended!

Morphosis - What Have We Learned - Remixes Part 1

Morphosis - What Have We Learned - Remixes Part 1 (M>O>S) Comentários: When this idea came about, there was some speculation here if it was a going to be plausible prospect. Throughout all the deliberation one fact remained: Re-workings from these artists would make the perfect precursor 12” to the full Morphosis album, and it just HAD to happen. Then it did. NWAQ turns in one hell of a dub! An almost relentless 7.5 minute float, that’s underpinned with thriftily placed percussion, and a true beast of a kick drum. No build-ups. No break-downs. So, now… let’s all bow towards to the master. Just For One Day’s rudeboy drum palette is going to be familiar to more than a few people. Let’s just say that this is the new guise of a veteran German producer who’s uncompromising music has graced some of the world’s most exciting record labels over the past 15 years. For this remix he hijacks the ‘Android’s Among Us’ and throws them right into a sound system shootout somehow leaving the core elements from the original track in tact. Seriously killer. For fans of 2 Step, Jungle & Dr Who(?). Please Note: This will be a vinyl only affair. Morphosis’ debut long player ‘What We Have Learned’ in Feb 2011 on 2LP, CD & Digital. This project will be a tri-label production, with M>O>S Recordings, Delsin and Morphine joining forces. The circle is now complete. nota do editor [Para Ouvir/Samples]

REEL BY REAL - 20 Years Surkit Part C & D

REEL BY REAL - 20 Years Surkit Part C & D (Artless Germany) Comentários: Absolutely Vital reissue of a Detroit masterwork in two parts from Marty Bonds aka Reel By Real. 'Surkit' was originally conceived and released 20 years ago and is regarded as a holy grail of Detroit Techno, marrying inimitably funked machine rhythms and the deepest space soul synthlines imaginable. Part C/D offers the blissfully melancholy 'Distance' and the timeless futurism of 'Surkit (1991 1-102 Version)'. On the flip Anthony "Shake" Shakir lends a hand on 'Serene', living up to the name with elegiac synth pads and ornate rhythm programming to stand up next to anything else from this period. MIRACLES CLUB - "CHURCH SONG"

FENNESZ, BRANDLMAYR & DAFELDECKER + BEN FROST, Sábado 4Dez, Teatro Maria Matos, Lisboa

FENNESZ, BRANDLMAYR & DAFELDECKER + BEN FROST, Sábado 4Dez, Teatro Maria Matos, Lisboa.

MASAYOSHI FUJITA & JAN JELINEK, Sexta 3Dez, Teatro Maria Matos, Lisboa

Light Club - Night Bulbs EP

Light Club - Night Bulbs EP (MYOR Holland) Comentários: In an era of heavy discotheque music played in dark cavernous spaces, Light Club offers a positive alternative with Night Bulbs. Picture cruising down the highway in a 1985 Volkswagon Scirocco at 4AM at a speed so fast that the passing lights blurrr into a sweeet neonesque glow. Light Club is that glow. Almost like a Ghost, a good one, not a scary one, perhaps the ghost of Rick James... or Nick Nolte, wait, he's not dead yet. VINDICATRIX - Hume / Unborn Vectors

VINDICATRIX - Hume / Unborn Vectors (Mordant Music) Comentários: Limited pressing! 'Hume' turns 'Human Nature' into a nightmarish, totally genius sing-a-long, sounding something like David Sylvian after a heavy S&M session before unpredictably flipping into a pulsing EBM beat. On the other side 'Unborn Vectors' stealthily morphs from avant-classical torch song drone into a writhing, wraithe-like acid techno throb. Gil Scott-Heron and Jamie xx - 'NY Is Killing Me'

Gil Scott-Heron and Jamie xx - 'NY Is Killing Me' (Young Turks) Comentários: As Jamie xx continues to rise through the echelons of musical accomplishment, encounters with bona fide legends like Gil Scott-Heron are almost inevitable. Mercifully his rework of Scott-Heron's 'NY Is Killing Me' (taken from 'I'm New Here') is a gem, placing the clapping diwali-riddim-blues of the original in the freshest LDN dancefloor context. In a complete overhaul of the track, Jamie shakes out fractured phrases of Gil's vocals over a bed of plush Bashment subs shackled by a minimal framework of shuffling halfstep patterns. Icily melodic refractions keep the mood suspenseful and suggestive, before the emotional alleviation comes with twinkling marimba keys in the closing stages. It's a special cut, we're sure you'll agree.
