Zomby - Nothing (4AD)

Zomby - Nothing (4AD) Comentários:*Brand new 7-track EP, pressed up on white vinyl and housed inside embossed inner and outer sleeeves* Special request for Zomby!!! 4AD drop an addendum of sorts to one of the albums of the year, 'Dedication', comprising seven brand new tracks spanning 'ardcore jungle revives, glassy digital steppers and swaggered bleeps. On a 'ardcore tip, there's 'Labyrinth' no doubt dedicated to the legendary London venue, plus the stush breakbeat twyst of 'Sens' and the cusp-o-the-'90s-styled freewheeler 'Ecstasy Versions'. Steppin' melancholy, there's the austere, finger-poppin' 'Digital Fractal', the tucked-in, Arabesque roller 'It Was All A Dream' and the iced-out, Kuedo-styled stunner 'Trapdoor'. Karl O'connor - White Savage Dance (Downwards)

Karl O'connor (Regis) - White Savage Dance (Downwards) Comentários: *First pressing Includes postcard + A4 insert with extensive sleevenotes by Tony Burnham aka Antonym* 'White Savage Dance' collects five seminal recordings by Karl O'Connor (Regis) as Sandra Electronics made between 1986 and 1999. They document the very earliest years of a canonical artist and his nascent experiments influenced by late '70s electro, post punk and European Industrial - from Robert Rental to DAF, Throbbing Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire - which would lay the foundations for a wealth of inspirational, definitive Techno productions. The A-side features three calcium and vitamin C-deficient tracks dating to 1986-88: the hypnotic, wheezing synths and dry rhythms of 'Clean Air' from 1986, beside the scrawny, phet-infused german version, and clenched english version of 'Here And Now' from 1988. The mindset and aesthetic is caustic, stripped-searched and sly but not without a prototypical form of the dark elegance which would come to define his later work. The flipside tracks 'I Understand' and 'A Man Has Responsibilties' came about a decade later and feature Karl's spiky brummie vocals set to brittle, mechanical drums played by Go Go Girl and recalling the stripped-down repetitions of his heroes DAF. In total, these tracks isolate an essence of urging, prodding funk and punkish noise which has been integral to certain strains of the techno lineage since rockabilly and found thru Can, the Cab's and right up to the likes of Powell nowadays. Essential works - a must for Regis obsessives and newbies alike. via boomkat [Para Ouvir/Samples]

Raime - HENNAIL

Raime - HENNAIL (Blackest Ever Black) Comentários: Blackest Ever Black's dysphoric duo present their most exquisitely realised single. A year in the making, 'Hennail' renders their illicit sound with an ever finer appreciation of tonal subtlety and tendon-tightening rhythmic dynamism. Their influences - militant, misanthropic post punk, hydraulic hardcore jungle and wasteland ambience - are more explicit than ever, yet utterly dissolute from the mass. On 'Told And Collapsed' the drums hang and swoon with a filigree syncopation owing as much to The Danse Society as Source Direct, while vein-popping industrial hollers are inverted deep into the matrix, beautifully accenting the track's barely-repressed violence at the most crucial, tongue biting moments. On 'You Will Lift Your Frame Clear' shuddering bass takes precedence, desecrating their soundsphere with a noxious, choking presence giving license to the onset of cenobite synth sighs and awning strings which subliminally ratchet the terror levels to startling degrees. Play it as loud as you can take... via boomkat [Para Ouvir/Samples]

FALSE TROPICS - False Tropics

FALSE TROPICS - False Tropics (False Tropics) Comentários: *Limited edition of 250*. These days it's rare that someone will take the time and effort to put their home baked beats to wax. In a world filled with dubstep and slow disco it's easy to forget where we all started. Cutting up samples in your bedroom and layering them over beats. Rudimentary in practice, these are the basic building blocks of beats. False Tropics bares it all and lets loose with some elementary material that is surprisingly pleasing. Nate Young - Stay Asleep (Regression Vol. 2) : NNA039

Nate Young - Stay Asleep (Regression Vol. 2) (NNA Tapes) Comentários: Nate Young’s ‘Regression’ was a marked departure for the Wolf Eyes man – not just from the teeth-chattering noise his disciples are so familiar with, but also from his previous solo efforts. The horror-movie influenced synth and tape manipulations displayed a development of sound that bypassed the white noise he might have been associated with, but in volume rather than mood – and ‘Stay Asleep’ sees a similar shift. At no point does the record reach cacophonous volumes, but the effect is as moody and unsettling a record as you’re likely to hear all year. Not the sort of thing you’d expect on NNA I hear you say? Well think again – these are deftly modern synthesizer constructions, and while harrowingly dark (think Friday 13th / Fabio Frizzi axis) retain an air of the new that smashes the retro/nostalgia jams of Umberto or Xander Harris to tiny pieces. Young is a tried and tested expert in music that seeps from the gutters of US subculture, and ‘Stay Asleep’ is his most assured statement to date with its slippery synthesized leads and heaving basslines. In another life this might be placed alongside the academic electronic works Delia Derbyshire, but Young operates in a parallel universe far removed from our own, away from the trappings of taste or trend. All that's left to do is sit back and absorb these alien transmissions, and marvel at the strength of character and originality once again displayed by this ever intriguing artist. via boomkat

Sangue De Cristo - Ponta Do Mato / Cova Do Vapor (One Eyed Jacks) Comentários: Sangue de Cristo Is a striking project geared up by Photonz (Marco Rodrigues, Miguel Evaristo) and Tiago Miranda. “Ponta do Mato” is magnificently tinged by a Balearic and cosmic conciseness, while “Cova do Vapor” makes you want to jack your mind into a celestial ecstasy. APPOINTMENT - Reconstruction

APPOINTMENT - Reconstruction (Appointment Germany) Comentários: ''Hard-edged, hefty, raw: “Reconstruction” was produced in London on a swift intense single day of recordings and mastered at The Carvery in the same week directly from a saturated tape without any compression or limiting, pushing the vinyl properties to their thermodynamical limits. The 4 advanced tracks walk through techno and house territories, merging U.K. and German tradition with an american approach to the analogue mixing desk. The point of impact of these compositions goes beyond minimalism and hits straight on the dancefloor.'' via clone [Para Ouvir/Samples1][2]* [3]* [4]*

Hieroglyphic Being - Le Jardin Des Chemins Bifurquants

Hieroglyphic Being - Le Jardin Des Chemins Bifurquants (Audiomer) Comentários: *Staggering, otherworldly works by Chicago's infamous cosmic connector Jamal Moss on a 45 minute album.* The last 12 months have a seen a catalytic upswing in productivity from the man also known as Jamal Moss, during which time his work has appeared on labels beyond the Techno sphere, signifying acknowledgement by a far wider-reaching group of listeners. 'Le Jardins Des Chemins Bifurquants' is among the most spectacular of this recent batch, comprising two longform experiments of instinctive, astral-searching sonics aligning the themes of Sun Ra with the abstractions of Keith Fullerton Whitman and Conrad Schnitzler's alien soundscapes. A-side 'Rhythmes Circadiens' sets an offworld nitescape of chirruping synthetic fauna and stunning darkside synth blooms which accumulate a rippling electro rhythm. B-side 'The Garden Of Forking Paths' is more contrary, detached, like Tangerine Dream meets Steve Moore at a deserted spacestation, an evolutionary trip of spooling modular tones and rusted noise with an untethered sense of imagination and exploration. For fans of his multifarious operations who've always wanted him to go one step beyond, this is a 100% essential purchase. via boomkat

Pete Swanson - Man With Potential (Type)

Pete Swanson - Man With Potential (Type) Comentários: *Limited edition vinyl pressing cut by Rashad at D&M, includes a bonus 50 minute CD "Man With Garbage* It's been an amazing year for deconstructed, f*cked-up and destroyed Techno, often emerging from the most unlikely sources. This new album from Yellow Swans' Pete Swanson certainly falls into that category, but might just be the most shocking and exquisitely demented offering of its kind, sounding like a cross between Aphex Twin, Regis, Prurient and Kevin Drumm - with all the brilliance those names suggest. On these tracks he continues to mine beneath the topsoil of the American noise scene into a more delirious, deafening style of bunkered Techno sharing much in common with Prurient's Vatican Shadow. His finest solo side in years, 'Man With Potential' feels to be a logical progression from last year's 'Going Places', exploring deeply routed ley lines of steam-powered machine rhythm and mind-burrowing distortion towards an innately unnatural conclusion. After an introductory acid bath cleanse, opener 'Misery Beat' soon tangles into a primal take on Regis' foundry-beaten 4/4s lashed by howling, demonic noise, before 'Remote View' gazes over nuclear-blasted synth pads and acid-ravaged Tech-noise pulses, and 'A&Ox0' creates an effluent channel of beaten-down bass and acrid, needling noise harmonics. Flipside, the brittle hypertension of 'Far Out' is enough to draw blood from your nervous, chewed lips, while the title track methodically planes any remaining, blistered flesh from the surface with layers of abrasive texture until he's reached the skeletal baroque noise bones of 'Face The Music'. And that's only the vinyl! Any healthy ears will be primed for the sweltering interrogations of bonus CD 'Man With Garbage', comprising his c20 tape 'Challenger', the mauling Afro-noise shapes of 'Return' and his trial by submersion 'Self-Help'. You'll need to brush your teeth twice after this - it's just so damn f*cked. via boomkat

Ramirez (Hype Williams) - A.M.Y (Rushhour) Comentários: Ramirez is the hyperstitious alias of Dean Blunt, aka half of Hype Williams, for this killer one-sided platter on Rush Hour. It features some dude recounting a "fateful encounter with "this bitch" he used to see" over tape-worn, uptempo discoHouse akin to Newworldaquarium's 'Trespassers', but with a shiftier shimmy. It's 100% mint and we'd recommend you snaffle one now or weep over discogs prices later!

INNERCITY - the earth as arch and cold end

Labels: , , , ,

Innercity - Terrestreality (Aguirre)

Innercity - Terrestreality (Aguirre) Comentários: *Edition of 300 copies only for the world* Fresh from his ace 7" for NNA Tapes, Belgium's Hans Dens drops his 2nd vinyl LP of lo-fi hypnagogic synthscrapes. His latest blown-out Techno odyssey scrambles the coordinates between Krautrock, minimal synth music and Belgian beats, hovering in an illusory interzone of self-organising synth music and almost unconsciously programmed arrangements. Through the A-side we encounter the lolling, eyes-shut 'Opiate Vague' which sounds somewhere between Hype Williams and Rabih Beani, besides the decaying topographies of 'Pai Apnan/Pai Nan' like Motion Sickness of Time Travel on a bad trip, and the submerged murk of 'Grind At Heart'. Flipside the journey becomes more fractal with a series of shorter tracks morphing from humid cyber-tropical simulations reminding of L.J.R. Martens to infernal dream noise and chewed techno, before spitting us out on the mind-decompressing drone pressure systems of 'Baby Food'. Most excellent. via boomkat

Eli Keszler - Cold Pin (Pan)

Eli Keszler - Cold Pin (Pan)Comentários: *Cold PIn is both a composition and stand alone installation, 14 strings ranging in length from 25 to 3 feet are strung across a 15 x 40 curved wall, with motors attacking the strings, connected by micro-controllers, pick-ups and rca cable, recorded in Boston's historic Cyclorama, a massive dome built to house the Cyclorama of the Battle of Gettysburg painting in 1884.* [...] the result is a dense, spasming cluster of rapid-fire rhythms and dissonant harmonic sustain with a keening mechanical motion, blurring the distinctions between human and motorized participants to disorienting and sense-engulfing degrees. The B-side is a variation on the same theme, but with a more brittle and spacious outcome. However, that's not to say it's any more comfortable: on headphones it still sounds like an army of ceramic ants with steel-soled clogs scurrying across your cochlea. Eli is a graduate of the New England Conservatory in Boston where he studied with Anthony Coleman and Ran Blake. via boomkat

Asmus Tietchens / Kouhei Matsunaga - Split LP

Asmus Tietchens / Kouhei Matsunaga - Split LP (Important Records) Comentários: Important pair two singular-minded sonic explorers on this excellent split. Asmus Tietchens requires scant introduction - he's operated at the forefront of "absolute music" and contemporary electronics for over three decades, collaborating with Merzbow, Thomas Köner and Richard Chartier among many others. His two compositions have been sculpted from stochastic sequences of pure sine waves as well as guitar samples given him by Dirk Serries (Fear Falls Burning). There's one immersive piece of suspended gray drones and rich harmonic drifts with an submerged and sepulchral acoustic quality entitled ''Die Kopflosen Frauen von Unger', and another more celestial piece of spooling sine waves with more alien acoustic space called 'Gitter'. On the other side, Kouhei Matsunaga of NHK continues a sterling run of releases with two pieces of icy electro-acoustic abstraction. Firstly ''Margin Sequence #1' reminds of his ultra-precise, highly reserved compositions with Sean Booth and Mika Vainio on 'Telepathics Meh In-Sect', all pinging, isolated frequencies and infinite space, while 'Chasing The Night' is a longer section of sky-scanning drones and pulsing rhythm located somewhere between Alva Noto, KTL and John Carpenter. Recommended! via boomkat

Steve Hauschildt - Tragedy & Geometry (Kranky)

Steve Hauschildt - Tragedy & Geometry (Kranky) Comentários: Since Emeralds became public property some time last year, Mark McGuire and John Elliott have unleashed a hefty number of solo and extra-curricular records, but the band's third member, Steve Hauschildt, has remained pretty quiet. Now he breaks the silence with this lovely 12-track collection, an epic synthesizer suite (what else??) that pays tribute to Greek myth and French artist Charles Meynier. It scales some heights of almost obscene beauty - 'Blue Marlin' and 'Peroxide' in particular will have you levitating - and while its arpeggiated post-kosmische tropes are largely a familiar bag, there's an honesty and acuity to Hauschildt's vision which makes T&G a fresh and hugely fulfilling listen. Listen out especially for 'Overnight Venusian' - a pulsing urban synth noir that conjures Vangelis and early C2 before dissolving into a delicious coda of astral ambience. via boomkat [Para Ouvir/Samples]

He has a new debut album (Following releases on Mordant Music and Further) called Intrusive Incidentalz Vol.1 via Peverelist's Punch Drunk label. «His sound is somewhere between radio phonic dub-scaping and post-industrial electronics, that you can trace back to Cabaret Voltaire. »
