Visible Cloaks & dip in the pool – Valve / Valve (Revisited) (RVNG INTL)

Visible Cloaks & dip in the pool – Valve / Valve (Revisited) (RVNG INTL)

You may be most familiar with Visible Cloaks from their two volumes of Fairlights, Mallets and Bamboo; mixes described as investigations “into Fourth World undercurrents in Japanese ambient and pop music, years 1980 – 1986” and beloved to many hearing this music in a new way or for the first time.
It’s fitting then that Visible Cloaks’ first original music since their 2015 self-titled album features different collaborations with Japanese duo dip in the pool. “Valve” translates vocalist Miyako Koda’s spoken word from “A Sea of Love,” the end track on her stunning solo album Jupiter (soon being resissued on Grandisc), into a MIDI chordal movement permeated by disparate tones, colors, and textures throughout the meditative piece / peace.
“Valve (Revisited)” features Koda contributing new vocals alongside Tatsuji Kim’s enhanced melodies and reanimated co-production with Visible Cloaks, becoming one with the original in the video presented here.
Brenna Murphy’s visual contribution to Valve / Valve (Revisited) underscores the multi-dimensionality of Visible Cloaks music, designing an abstract landscape that beckons investigation and wonder. It also adorns the double a-side single artwork and becomes a virtual interactive environment when downloaded as a desktop application.

There’s been some pretty original silhouettes from adidas lately if you take recent drops from the Y-3 and NMD lines into account. Previous contributor Rick Owens returns once again to push the Tre-Foil’s pioneering ways even further with the introduction of the High Level Runner and the Runner Level Low. Taking cues from the Runner, the new offerings feature a mid-foot support that extends from the sole and a corrugated traction pattern. The High Level will release in premium black and white leather iterations, as will the Level Low with an additional brown and red combo.

Expect the next Rick Owens x adidas collection to drop in February 2017. Via Sneaker Freaker

REEDALE RISE - Light Through A Birds Wing (Frustrated Funk Holland)

REEDALE RISE - Light Through A Birds Wing (Frustrated Funk Holland) When the flowers bloom at the awakening of the season. With translucence shining like liquid stars decked out in glorious hues of pink, purple and blue. When the trees grow and the birds fly out. When they gently beat their wings, gliding upon the blue canvas of the sky. You get touched by the sounds and the beauty of it all. It lights that fire deep within you... Reedale Rise shows us the way of things,.. as it was then, and still is now. [Listen/Samples]

COMPOSITE PROFUSE - Unalaska Ice Files (Shipwrec Holland)

COMPOSITE PROFUSE - Unalaska Ice Files (Shipwrec Holland) Dutch electro heads Shipwrec are back with Valerio Lombardozzi aka Heinrich Dressel aka Composite Profuse, throwing down some purist electro leanings on the Unalaska Ice Files EP. Starting out with the rich vintage synth tapestries on "30-Foot Wave", while the title track is deep down and dirty electrofunk of the very Drexciyan, aquatic variety. On the flip, we've got some pretty serious remixes of said track; legends The Exaltics deliver a fairly thumping and emotive version which is also worthy of your attention while fellow Italian duo Teslasonic's remix is actually the work of Lombardozzi yet again.

MARIE DAVIDSON - Adieux Au Dancefloor (Cititrax/Minimal Wave US)

MARIE DAVIDSON - Adieux Au Dancefloor (Cititrax/Minimal Wave US) Given the underground acclaim heaped on Marie Davidson's previous albums - ultra-stylish affairs that blend elements of minimal wave, dark Italo-disco, off-kilter electro and moody ambient - it's little surprise to see her popping up on Minimal Wave offshoot Cititrax. The album's nine tracks are largely sharp, rough and fuzzy, with sparse-but-dense drum machines rhythms underpinning bouncy, delay-laden synth lines, thrusting electronics and Davidson's sleazy, spoken word vocals. It's an attractive combination that guarantees thrills throughout, from the almost claustrophobic throb of "Denial", to the mutant electrofunk bounce of "Good Vibes".
