JAMES T. COTTON - Like No One
JAMES T. COTTON - Like No One (Spectral) Comentários: Like No One. Quite a statement to make, but when you can back it up like this who can argue? After pretty much mastering any genre he's had a crack at, Tadd Mullinx, the beardy fella behind the Dabrye, SK1 and Starsky and Clutch monikers returns to his acid playtime project with pals from the Creme Jak excursions, Melvin Oliphant (Saturn V/the Dirty Criminals) and D'Marc Cantu (2AM/FM) well up for the session. Mullinx breathes some humid air into his vast array of drum machines with an intuitive knack for rhythmatic progression and respect for the acid progenitors from Phuture to Armando, in a genre so crowded with dilettantes JTC is the real deal, no doubt. On 'The second cycle, JTC is joined by Ellis Monk on providing the ascencial (sic) chord progressions over JTC's raw jackbeats. 'The Boxx' pays homage to that devilish little machine known as the TB 303, with a virtuoso display of licks and bites, funkifying pure electrical current into terrifying dancefloor commands. The Saturn V collab is as fierce as anything on their awesome Creme Jak 12"s, while the 2AM/FM collab trips out into John Carpenter with a slow strobe territory. Absolutely sick stuff, ESSENTIAL PURCHASE! in boomkat [Para Ouvir/Samples]
