ZOMBY - Mush
ZOMBY - Mush (Hyperdub) Comentários: Big 12" alert. Yet another new signing to the stellar hyperdub roster, Zomby joins the fold with the massive 'Mush' backed up with the most anticipated remix for a long time, Rustie tackling the anthemic 'Spliff dub'. Surprisingly Zomby has only released one full track proper, the aforementioned 'spliff dub' anthem for Heavy Artillery, but as any followers of this game will know, the man has dubs for days and finally Hyperdub do the good thing and get some on wax. 'Mush' takes definite cues from the more spangled side of the dubstep world, instead of relying on hackneyed dub samples Zomby can easily be considered next to the likes of Various or Ikonika for forward thinking melodic developments and a far wider sonic scope than the rest of his peers, utilising cellos and a skilled production pallette to knock up a riddim that stands head and shoulders above the rest. That said, he can't help but be usurped by the awesome Rustie mix of 'Spliff dub' on the flip. The Wegie rascal turns the original's dancehall vibes into a technicolour synth ridden monster, retaining the original "one spliff a day' refrain but transforming it into a far wonkier beast. Once again, you just can't fault hyperdub's A+R skills here, picking up on the absolute cutting edge of British dancefloor electronics with two of the scenes brightest young talents.
